In 1994/95, due to a lack of knowledge and confidence, I never released this song, but I should have. WALK ON BY features Canada’s own Terminal DG alongside female vocalist Abohnee (pronounced Ebony) and was engineered and produced by myself DJ Ron Nelson, inside Toronto’s Apache Studios. 

As a popular dee-jay at this time I had an idea for a reggae remix-collaboration that would have good crossover potential. The song of choice, ‘Walk on By’, an original Dionne Warwick 1963 hit made popular again in 1989 when Sybil did her own soulful cover version released on the independent Next Plateau Records which I loved. 

The official music video is yet to be released, this video I put together in a short hour using stock footage, could you tell? (lol) Well, no excuses, today’s music it seems has to be seen to be heard. Besides, Abohnee is a woman we can’t find, I only worked with her once, she was a beautiful young black R&B singer but after hearing her work with another producer in my studio, I recruited her to do this song, then we lost touch and the studio closed soon after. 

Hopefully, she’ll show up, we left the song unfinished on a DAT which I recently rediscovered triggering this 2024 release. 

The image of the Abohnee on the cover artwork was Ai generated, and back then she was known as Ebony. Terminal DG is still around, still my friend,  and still making music.

When I initially posted this song so many people loved it motivating me to release it now, 30 years later. I’ll hook up dj download links soon but for now Apple Music has it and it’s streaming on all popular music networks.
