INTERNATIONAL SOUNDS WHO PERFORMED IN TORONTO APRIL 2002

  • Jedi (Nico Bam Bam)
  • Black Chiney
  • Libra Love

April 2002 CANADIAN SOUND OF THE MONTH

  • As of May 1st 2002, Glamarous Movements and Rebel Tone are the survivor-finalist of the Epiphany Juggling Contest, meaning each of these sounds have survived their elemination rounds by emerging victorios on 4 different occasions while advancing to the finals. This is not easy, as these competions have been close and intense. These two sounds will now battle it out at Epiphany Sunday May 12th.

GUNZ & ROZEZ (Canada’s only all-female dj sound system) is congratulated for winning thier clash abroad.

INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WHO PERFORMED IN TORONTO APRIL 2002

  • Sizzla

Blessed April 2002 CANADIAN ARTIST OF THE MONTH

  • Hey, Blessed won a very distinguished JUNO award this month, and since 2002, his Year Of The Unexpected white label track has been creeping up to mash up many local dances. Blessed is laaaarge! He may not even know how large! Congrats to this fine Canadian recording artists on his Juno win, and we all look forward to many nice tunes to come from Blessed.

BUSHRAT RELEASES BULLY

  • With the release of “Bully” (Black Flass Records), Canadian artist Bushrat has established himself as one of Canada’s leading DJ’s. This one tune may carry the weight of all other tracks released on this rhythm.

SONG-RHYTHM OF THE MONTH

  • Elephant Man’s “Bad Man A Bad Man” and Capleton’s “Me Deh Ya Now” have both crept up to impact both radio and the dancehalls. Meanwhile, The Dwali rhythm (featuring Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, etc.) is starting to make some noise.

DANCE EVENT OF THE MONTH

  • This month had okay vibes for dances. There was not one dance however that dominated April vibes.

STAGE SHOW OF THE MONTH

  • The Sizzla show at the Docks was not only the stage show of the month, but also the only stage show in T.O. for all of April. The event saw a packed house, as over 1600 people attended.

SURPRISE OF THE MONTH

  • The fact that the Leather & Suede dance at Golden Palace flopped (April 2th), and that Super Twitch didn’t even bother showing up.

April 2002 TOP NEWS STORY

  • A lot of us have lost confidence in our police. Living in T.O. is like living in a land where the bad guys seem to win all the time, as they are rarely caught by police after commiting murder! But this changed in mid April, with the timely arrests of the murderers of Paul Watson, Natty Britz, and Face by Toronto police. Please visit our Magazine section for details on this story.

OTHER TOP STORIES

  • Loss of our Canadian soldiers due to US friendly fire.
