Come along take a ride on the Fantastic Voyage

And the 2023 Impact Award goes to…

Thanks you very much, I am deeply honoured to receive this prestigious impact award from the Toronto Funk, Soul and R&B Music Festival 2023, held last Saturday September 30th at Lees Palace.

I was happy to get the award yes, but even happier to get to perform live amongst a group of very talented upcoming and established funk, soul and RnB artists which included two live bands.

I must say congratulations to everybody, MET Radio, every performer, every organizer, all the hosts, dee-jay and 250 or so energetic fans in the place. It was a great party night of solid R&B, Funk and Soul entertainment as promised, right from start to finish.

The music and audio sound system sounded great, and the bands were scoring well with the presentation of classic old school songs played so precisely that you you couldn’t tell it from the real thing unless you saw that it was being performed live.

My show went by in a quick 20 mins, got to do 7 songs after receiving my Impact award. Thanks to Nadia Lloyd who performed alongside me for Let Me Have A Lover, the last song on my set.

I gotta say extra thanks to 2rude (videod my show), Righteous (came to support), Rob (my on stage S1W) Raymond (outfitted me with awesome Roots gear), Victoria (thanks for the 📸) and her husband Kevin.

Finally, in looking back at my performance, I am still learning. I know I need to keep working on keeping the pitch of my voice lower. Also I would like to move more on stage. Need to pace down and MC more, get the crowd involved more, tell a few jokes yeah.

I also can keep practicing and memorizing my 5 albums worth of songs. I got about 90 minutes of songs that are memorized to date, that’s satisfying.

But still, I’m moving forward not backwards, progress not regress. With every performance opportunity will come new challenges and nobody knows what lies ahead.
