New Video and BBM Evidence Presented in Vybz Kartel Murder Trial

February 05th 2014: On January 27th, 2014, more evidence was revealed in the Jamaican courts in the Vybz Kartel murder trial. Blackberry BBM telephone Text messages (provided by LIME Jamaica) were brought forward as evidence in the case, featuring four males, two of whom allegedly were

Jamaican dee-jay Sean Storm and the “World Boss” himself Adidjaheim Palmer aka Vybz Kartel. The BBM Text conversations were read aloud for the court to hear, and dated back to days after Clive“Lizard” Williams  went missing in July/August of 2011, his body has never been found. Kartel, and four co-accused are on trial for the murder of Mr. Williams.

Blackberry BBM messages in the courts included conversation about what to “do” with Lizard’s deceased body, which apparently would “never be found” because as “ordered” by Vybz Kartel, the body had been chopped up into tiny pieces like “minced meat” likely with either a ratchet knife or pick axe. Speculation is that the body may also disintegrated after being disposed in acid. Video evidence was also shown in the courts appearing to be a man being beat up by a group of men, one of who called for the victim to be stabbed in the neck.

Beef: Mavado vs Bounty vs Busy Signal

February 06th 2014: Beefing over a what? Bounty Killer likes to be an instigator, but he also likes to make a point when a point needs to be made.  In this case, an event flyer for Mavado’s Birthday party was the source of Bounty’s complaint (spoken during a TV interview), because the size of the

Reggae artists on the flyer (Beenieman, Bounty Killer, Lady Saw, etc.) were significantly smaller than the size of the Hip-hop artist, Ace Hood specifically.

Bounty followed up his point by issuing the first missile, a song dissing Mavado called “Flipover” on the Blurred Lines Riddim. Mavado (rumored to be coming to Toronto in March) shot back with his own song “Dem A Try Style Man”, stating that Bounty is just jealous of him since he (Mavado) is in foreign flossing up and making money. Busy Signal then threw in his own shot with “Real Talk” (King Majestic Riddim), taking sides with Bounty, and criticizing Mavado for being “ungrateful” because it was Bounty who buss him in the business therefore he should remember where he came from.

Bob Marley Day in Toronto

02.06.14: Today is Nesta Robert Marley’s Birthstrong, the greatest and most influential reggae artist of all time.  Bob Marley was born February 6, 1945 in Nine Mile, Jamaica and died May 11, 1981, in Miami, Florida. Big up former Toronto Mayor Art Eggleton who in 1991 declared February 6th as

Bob Marley Day in Toronto. Big up current Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who has re-declared February 6th as Bob Marley Day in Toronto.  And big up each and everyone who will take time out to acknowledge February as African History Month in Canada and the United States.

Redemption 65 delivers Good vibes at Kool Haus

February 08th 2014: Redemption 65 (“Bob & Dennis Lover’s Rock Edition”) took place Friday February 7th @ The Kool Huas (132 Queens Quay E., Toronto). Featured in this Redemption was 2013 World Clash champion Metromedia with Skyjuice on the mic in his blue and white striped Puma tracksuit

(two sizes too small-big belly hanging out) and Oliver on the turntables.  The Sound performed two sets to the delight of the massive, and Skyjuice was his regular self, boasy,  funny, with good speeches and acrobatics.  They were overall very entertaining, making everybody laugh and loosen up inside Kool Haus.

Skyjuice first set was cut short due to technical difficulties.  He was heard on the mic calling the MC to “deal with” the technically difficulties since he, Skyjuice, was as he put it, “a star!” (LOL). In his second set, Skyjuice introduced Jamaica’s Ras Penco who snuck in a quick performance before Skyjuice played, giving the people an almost exclusive dubplates showcase featuring music from the Studio One days. Skyjuice referred at length to the sadness he felt about the passing of his eldest daughter, Camille Headly, who died in Jamaica of a heart attack Saturday August 31st 2013 at age 34.  Stated Skyjuice, “Mi daughter pass on….ah di best pickni mi ever have…mi love her and miss her so much…more dan mi woman at home”.

Performing live at this Redemption was Jamaica’s Lovindeer who performed hits songs “Wild Gilbert” and “Panty Size”.  Lovindeer made people laugh when before his performance of “Panty Size”, he stated, “Mi nuh wah no big panty size gal”, before unveiling from his pocket a huge oversize pair of drawazzz (LOL)!  Chaka Demus and Pliers also performed, although Pliers seemed a bit disconnected (he kept leaving the stage), Chaka Demus had no problems commanding the forefront.  Their show’s highlight was their performance of the classic “Murder She Wrote”.  Jr. Kelly was the last artist to perform, and was the most interactive with the crowd, leaving the stage at times to perform from within the audience.  This was a fast-moving show highlighted by his two hit songs, “If Love So Nice” and “(Take This Love And) Receive”.

Celebrate with 10 Tips to Prevent & Manage Diabetes!

03.04.14: Now is a great time to think about the future, and what we can do to make it even better for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren. One of the key areas we have to work on is our health. Did you know that one our most serious afflictions today—type 2 diabetes—hitsAfricans in the

Western World particularly hard? It’s true. Here’s more, and how you can help prevent the disease, or if you already have it, reverse it with natural medicine.Diabetes and Black Americans

chatta2According to the American Diabetes Association, Africans are 1.8 times more likely to have diabetes as non-Hispanic whites, and almost 50 percent more likely to develop diabetic retinopathy, which can lead to blindness. In fact, diabetes is the fifth leading cause of death in Africans.

Women are even more at risk. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that women with diabetes have a shorter life expectancy than women without it, and are also more at risk for blindness from diabetes than men.

To make it worse, diabetes automatically raises your risk of cardiovascular disease—about two out of three people with diabetes die of heart disease or stroke.

A disease that affects the body’s ability to ingest and use energy (glucose) correctly, diabetes causes blood sugar levels to rise higher than normal. It may result in few symptoms at first, but over time, can lead to skin infections, glaucoma, cataracts, nerve damage, foot problems, high blood pressure, kidney disease, heart disease, and stroke.

Why Are Africans in North America More Affected?

National health surveys show that over the past 35 years, the number of Africansdiagnosed with diabetes has increased dramatically, doubling between 1988 and 1994. Why is this happening?

You’ve probably heard of “melanin,” which is a pigment produced in the pineal gland in the brain. This pigment is responsible for skin, hair, and eye color. But did you know there are different kinds of melanin?

“Neuromelanin,” for example, is related to melanin, but acts somewhat differently in the body. A dark polymer pigment found in the brain and central nervous system, and its malfunction has been linked in some studies to Parkinson’s disease.

In fact, Melanin is a molecule found in each living organ in the human body. Glands such as the pituitary, barathary thyroid, adrenal, and thymus, all have it. It’s also abundantly present in the heart, liver, arteries, muscles, and the gastrointestinal tract. Under optimal conditions, it’sa superconductor, similar to that of a car battery. It remains charged when exposed to things such as color, sound, light, sunlight, and natural foods greatly impacted by the sunlight.

How Our Melanin Can Increase Risk of Diseasechatta3

As dark-skinned people, we have more melanin moleculeson the whole, which can put us at risk, because melanin has the ability to hold onto good or bad energy. If we eat junk, melanin causes it to stick to us and increases risk of diseases like diabetes, and possibly violent primitive behaviors. If we eat healthy foods, on the other hand, the melanin hangs onto those as well, providing energy, vitality and civil behaviors.

Melanin is deranged only when it becomes toxic. Yet we are engaging in behaviors that are turning melanin against us.

Other Factors That Increase Our Risk for Diabetes

Higher-than-normal resting levels of the hormone “insulin”—which processes glucose and is out of balance in those with diabetes—has been detected in Africans. The large NHANES III study, for example, found that insulin levels were higher in Africans than in whites, indicating a greater risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

Prevention and Management of Type 2 Diabetes

Whether or not you have diabetes, if you’re African, you can assume that you’re at risk for it. That means making changes in your life that will either help you avoid the disease entirely, or improve your management of it so you can steer clear of complications.

Try these ten tips to prevent and help cure diabetes, and celebrate your health along with your heritage!

  1. Replace white sugar: It’s time to change your thinking about white sugar. Imagine it as something bad for you, rather than something tasty. Processed sugar and starch destroys the melanin and carbon factor, which in turn destroys teeth, the pancreas, kidneys, liver, spleen, bones, etc. The sugar targets the melanin centers in the pancreas—an organ that typically helps us breakdown and digest carbohydrates. In fact, the pancreas is part of our “endocrine system,” which includes the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, etc. If one of these glands becomes weak, all others are affected. This throws all hormones out of whack and can cause a blood sugar imbalance.Use Stevia, raw honey, high grade Maple Syrup, or fresh raw fruits instead.
  2. Cut the Starch: The hard-dough bread, boiled dumpling, and fried dumpling have been in our lives for too long and we are paying for it. These carbs break down quickly in the body, spiking insulin levels and putting pressure on the pancreas. Thisthrows off blood sugar balance, increasing risk for diabetes. Starch also causes constipation, irritability, headaches, aggression, lack of energy, and insomnia. Resistant starches, on the other hand, resist breakdown, keeping blood sugar levels stabilized, yet helping you to feel full. If you still want to enjoy these foods, simply replace the flour you’re using with resistant starches like buckwheat flour, teff and quinoa.
  3. Eat the right fruits and vegetables:Today’s bananas are extremely high in sugar and should be avoided or limited. Choose fruits such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, melons, cucumbers, celery, red cabbage, and most dark leafy green vegetables.
  4. Read labels. It’s imperative that if you aren’t already doing so, you start looking at the nutrition facts and ingredient lists on every one of your foods. The modern Western diet is full of processed foods that are high in sugar and fat and other ingredients that are connected with weight gain and diabetes. Choose whole foods in their natural state whenever possible, and limit the packaged foods you’re eating.
  5. Work exercise into your day. Exercise is a key staple of maintaining a healthy weight, which helps you avoid diabetes or better manage it once you have it. You don’t have to set aside two hours to go to the gym. In fact, science shows it’s better to move throughout the day. Get off the bus one stop earlier, or park your car farther out so you have to walk to your destination. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Ride your bike to work if you can, or take a weekend ride with the family. Find ways to make it fun and integral to your daily routine and get the family involved so this disease no longer travels from generation to generation.
  6. Learn to love water.Processed, sweetened beverages take a big toll on your health, especially if you drink more than two or three a week. They’re empty calories that lead to weight gain. Try replacing these with natural juices or a nice cold glass of water. Add lemon for a refreshing twist—it’s also great for your liver. Drink a full glass first thing in the morning—it will help satisfy your cravings and give you a better start to the day.
  7. Travel smart. On your commute, at the office, on the airplane—these are all places where you’re likely to make unhealthy choices. Prepare by taking healthy snacks with you. Nuts, fresh and dried fruit, cut-up veggies, roasted chickpeas, and raw or roasted seaweed are all better options than the standard chips or cookies.
  8. Nurture your mind and soul. Are you an emotional eater? Stress affects the body in a number of ways, and can cause us to indulge in behaviors that increase our risk of diabetes. Try deep breathing, yoga, kupigana ngumi, tai chi, a warm bath, meditation, time out with friends, and other ways of “de-stressing” to calm your nerves and help you think clearly. You’ll make healthier choices with a relaxed, calm brain!
  9. Add natural diabetes fighters to your life. These include the following:
    1. Gymnema Sylvestre is one of the most powerful herbs for blood-sugar control. It increases the activity of enzymes that help cells use glucose, and helps stimulate the production of insulin.
    2. Bitter melon helps the cells use glucose more effectively and blocks sugar absorption in the intestine.
    3. Gamma-linolenic acid aids with nerve pain associated with diabetes.
    4. Chromium helps to normalize blood sugar and metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
    5. Bilberry is rich in antioxidants called “anthocyanidins,” which help prevent damage to tiny blood vessels that result in nerve pain and retinopathy (damage to the eye’s retina).
    6. Chlorophyll is a natural anti-inflammatory and has shown in some research to help calm the pancreas.
    7. Black seed oil has been shown in a number of studies to help lower blood sugar levels.
    8. Vitamin D: When the sun’s energy cannot reach the melanin, it becomes less active. We have come to North America and are severely depleted of vitamin D and sun foods. Vitamin D keeps melanin clean. Good sources include mushrooms (except shitake), chlorophyll, spirulina, Premier Research Labs brand products, etc.
    9. Don’t wait. Your health isn’t something you should put off until tomorrow—because it may no longer be there. Use Black History Month as motivation to start making changes in your health, for yourself and those you care about. Take the first step today!

Can’t Lose Weight? 5 Reasons Why And How to Fix Them

03.04.14: Have you made your New Year’s resolutions for 2014? Did you resolve to lose weight? If so, you’re not alone. Year after year, research tells us that “losing weight” is the number one New Year’s resolution people make. Unfortunately, only eight percent of people will actually achieve that goal.

Many people think they’re doing the right things—eating less and exercising more—but they still can’t shed those stubborn pounds. If this describes you, the following five tips may help.

1. You’re Still Eating the Wrong Foods: Some diet programs will advise you to replace your normal meals with shakes, bars, smoothies, or other options that are not good for you for a number of reasons—1) they may have preservatives, chemicals, and other non-food ingredients that could cause health problems;
2) they often lack real food ingredients that your body needs, and
3) they set you up for failure when you do return to real food. I’m all for meal replacements, but what you want to do is replace foods that encourage weight gain with real, nutritious foods that encourage weight loss. Instead of saying you’ll have three rice portions a week instead of seven, replace all white rice with quinoa instead. It provides more
fiber and will break down more slowly in your system, helping you to stay satisfied and resist snacking later in the day. It also aids in digestion and has much more of the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Some other healthy replacements include:
  • Use stevia instead of sugar—it won’t raise your insulin levels, which means a more steady energy burn and fewer calories stored as fat.
  • Drink kombucha tea instead of sugar-sweetened beverages—it’s fermented, so it gives you that fizz you enjoy while providing beneficial bacteria for your digestive system.
  • Eat Daiya instead of cheese—it’s dairy-free and made from coconut, proving healthy fats for your heart.
  • Replace all white breads, pastas, and baked good with those made from whole grains, which typically take longer to digest and keep you satisfied longer.
  • Instead of white flour crackers for a snack, eat a handful of nuts—they have healthy omega-3 fatty acids and protein, and will keep you satisfied.
  • Choose sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes—they are packed with vitamin A and do not spike blood sugar levels like white potatoes do.
  • You don’t have to starve yourself to lose weight. You just need to replace the foods that tend to convert quickly to fat to those that burn slow and provide lasting energy and satiety.

2. You’re Eating Too Late in the Day:Ideally, we shouldn’t eat after 6:00 p.m. The later you consume calories, the more likely your body is to store those calories as fat. That’s because your metabolism slows down, preparing for sleep, leaving little energy for burning food. A 2008 study, for example, found that nighttime eating predicted weight gain. To break the nighttime eating habit, make sure you’re going to bed at the same time every night, decide not to eat after a certain hour (start with 8:00 p.m.), and satisfy your cravings with a full glass of water, a cup of herbal tea, a handful of veggies, or a piece of fruit. It also helps to take up a hobby you can do at night to keep yourself busy, like writing, crocheting, drawing, assembling models, or similar activities.

3. Your Hormones are Unbalanced:
For many women, especially, weight gain can be at least partially blamed on a hormonal imbalance. If you find that weight loss is impossible no matter how much you diet and exercise, check with your doctor to find out whether your hormones maybe in flux. Natural balancing herbs include Vitex or chase berry, red cabbage, magnesium, and fermented cod liver oil. Make sure you’re getting seven to nine hours of sleep per night (a lack of sleep throws hormones out of balance), and avoid polyunsaturated fats such as corn oil, soy oil, margarine, shortening. Use
coconut oil, fermented cod liver oil, and hemp oil instead, which all have good, healthy fats that provide the building blocks for hormone production. Men who may be experiencing hormonal imbalance can try saw palmetto in conjunction with the above.

Don’t Forget Your Liver: In both men and women, liver congestion can cause hormonal imbalance and make it difficult to lose weight. One of the liver’s roles in the body is to regulate the balance of estrogen. If the body absorbs too many estrogens, the liver will release them through the digestive system in an attempt to maintain a healthy balance. If the liver is congested, however, it has a harder time doing that. Estrogen dominance in men leads to insomnia, decreased muscle mass, hair loss, cancer, loss of libido, prostate enlargement, fatigue, and difficult weight loss. Estrogen dominance in women may lead to fibroid tumors, hair thinning/loss, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and again difficult weight loss.

4. You Need to Cleanse:

If you’re used to eating processed foods, white flour and rice, unhealthy fats, and too many sweets, and then you try to lose weight, you may be unsuccessful because of the “junk” stored up in your body. A healthy cleanse can help you start fresh. Avoid dangerous celebrity cleanses, however, and go for natural solutions like the following if you’re used to eating processed foods, white flour and rice, unhealthy fats, and too many sweets, and then you try to lose weight, you may be unsuccessful because of the “junk” stored up in your body. A healthy cleanse can help you start fresh. Avoid dangerous celebrity cleanses, however, and go for natural solutions like the following:

  • Drink lemon water every morning—for best results, juice the entire lemon (with skin) in cold or warm water and enjoy.
  • Eat more apples, onions, garlic, and artichokes, which can all help flush toxins out of your system.
  • Eat plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organic fruits and vegetables. Include beets, cabbage, broccoli, and seaweed for extra detoxing.
  • Drink a cup or more of dandelion tea every day. Other cleansing herbs include burdock and milk thistle.
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of pure water every day.
  • Exercise at least one hour a day. Try a brisk walk or jog, biking, jump roping, yoga, or anything that gets you sweating the toxins out.

5. You’re Not Getting Enough Probiotics:

Losing weight depends on a healthy digestive system. If you’re regularly experiencing bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, or other stomach ills, you probably need to help your stomach do a better job. Probiotics are friend

ly microorganisms that provide health benefits, including improved digestion. This can help you better process the foods you do eat, which can encourage weight loss. In addition, some studies have suggested that probiotics may encourage your body to drop extra pounds. Research published in the British Journal of Nutrition in 2013, for example, linked one probiotic strain to fat loss. Natural food sources of probiotics include yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, microalgae, misosoup, pickles, tempeh, and kombucha tea.Healthy eating isn’t about depriving yourself or battling with your own will power. Instead, simply choose foods that are healthier and easier for your body to process, and you’ll notice the pounds coming off almost automatically!

Remembering Legendary Drummer Raffa Dean – Gone But Not Forgotten

June 13 2014: Reggae music in Canada has lost one of its most beloved and talented musicians, legendary drummer-percussionist-musician Raffa Dean aka Tony White aka Paul Anthony White. Raffa Dean, considered to be Canada’s number one reggae drummer of all time, died Tuesday June

10th after a two year battle with stomach cancer, an illness he kept secret from friends and family until the end. He was 56 year old. He leaves behind two daughters, Jacquiline and Teani White.

Born in Kingston Jamaica, Raffa Dean emigrated to Canada in 1975, where he jammed with almost every musician and band coming through Toronto and Canada.  A gifted singer, writer, and musician, and Canada’s most talented and creative drummer to have played reggae music in Canada, Raffa Dean toured with or was a part of many great reggae bands the likes of Burning Spear, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Free Dubstar, The Resinators, The Dream Band, the Mighty Mystics, and Big Sugar, who are remembered for being show openers for the Rolling Stones at Maple Leaf Gardens.

Raffa Dean is also survived by his younger brother, 2013 JUNO nominee Akoustix aka Andrew Ranks, whose nominated song “Mandela” featured Raffa Dean on percussion.  ReggaeMania.com spoke with Akoustix, who remembers his late brother as someone who was “very proud, someone who liked to make people laugh…the class clown”.  States Akoustix, “Raffa was extremely creative and influential, and so talented that people even paired him up with the great Sly Dunbar.  We’ve lost one of the originators, one of the originals.  He started off Dancehall, he’s the original drummer who created One Drop, before Bimbo took it back to Jamaica. Reggae Music is going to miss him”.

A Service for Raffa Dean’s will take place this Sunday June 15th, 9:30-11:00 at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel, 467 Sherbourne Street, Toronto, ON M4X 1K5 (416-924-1408). The Burial will be at 12:00 Noon, before a Daniels Spectrum Memorial Tribute.

Life in Prison for Vybz Kartel + Crew

April 15th 2014 2014: The following is a re-print of the April 13th 2014 Jamaican Observer article titled “17 Guns For Freedom”-“Klansman Gang said linked Gaza Murders!”.  As a big Vybz Kartel fan, my heart sank after reading this article, and even now, after accepting, along with all Kartel fans, our

Adidja Palmer aka Vybz Kartel has been sentenced to life in prison for the August 2011 murder of St. Catherine-based dancer, Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams following a hearing in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston on Thursday.

The deejay will not be eligible for parole for the first 35 years of his prison term, when he is 73 years old. His co-accused, Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre ‘Mad Suss’ St. John were also sentenced to life in prison, with the men not eligible for parole until 25, 25 and 30 years into their respective sentences, handed down by Supreme Court justice, Lennox Campbell.

Kartel was decked out in a full white suit and white shirt as he appeared cool and calm upon waiting for the judge’s ruling. Similar to last week’s hearing, the deejay maintained his innocence before the court, saying, through his lawyers, that he would not beg for mercy and accept the punishment handed down.

Justice Campbell that made a summation, saying there was premeditation and planning about the murder, while saying there was much distress for the family of the deceased Williams. He then handed down the sentences shortly before 11:30 a.m. Jamaican time.

Vybz Kartel Post Murder Case Revelations Getting Uglier By The Day

April 15th 2014 2014: The following is a re-print of the April 13th 2014 Jamaican Observer article titled “17 Guns For Freedom”-“Klansman Gang said linked Gaza Murders!”.  As a big Vybz Kartel fan, my heart sank after reading this article, and even now, after accepting, along with all Kartel fans, our

sentencing of ‘guilt by association’,  I’m still in ‘stun’ mode.  With the lifetime sentencing of Vybz Kartel, Dancehall has received a slap in the face, yes, and most of us have accepted this. But now it’s gotten even stickier (and the worst is yet to come) with the revelations of the details in this article, I must say I simply felt sick to be associated with this man (not the artist or his music), if what is being revealed turns out to be 100% truth. Here is the article courtesy of the Jamaican Observer.

CONVICTED entertainer Vybz Kartel told the police the whereabouts of several wanted men in Portmore, St Catherine and provided the authorities with information that led to the recovery of 17 illegal firearms, a highly-placed police source has disclosed.

The move by the embattled entertainer was part of an effort to gain his freedom, or at least a vastly reduced prison sentence, the police said.

The startling revelation came to light during a Jamaica Observer interview with a member of the constabulary’s top brass late last week.

“He wanted to meet with the commissioner who assigned a member of the high command to meet him. During the meeting he offered information on wanted men in Portmore and also coughed up a number of illegal firearms. He was trying to broker a deal to get the charges dropped,” the source said.

The police said several wanted men were subsequently nabbed.

Kartel along with André St John, Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell and Kahira Jones were all found guilty and slapped with life sentences for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, who police say was bludgeoned to death at a house in Havendale, St Andrew, on August 16, 2011.

The men will have to serve 35, 30, and 25 years respectively if the Appellate Court throws out their appeals, which will likely be heard in a minimum three years from now, based upon the pace at which such appeals are dealt with.

According to the police source, the artiste made the offer when he realised that the walls were closing in on him, after homicide investigators were sealing up their probe into Williams’ murder.

The police also said that Kartel and a funeral director also met with a top-ranking cop after a probe was launched into whether or not Williams’ remains were cremated.

Police are also probing the disappearance of funeral home operator Jennifer Edwards, who went missing in January.

The police said evidence was suggesting that Edwards was killed and her body disposed of as she had knowledge of sinister dealings relating to Williams’ body.

“We believe she was killed because she was the weak link and she knew too much, but we are still investigating,” the source said.

Last Wednesday, Police Commissioner Owen Ellington drew the ire of defence attorney Tom Tavares-Finson when he declared that Kartel (real name Adidja Palmer) was the boss of a criminal outfit that was responsible for more than 100 murders.

Tavares-Finson could not be reached for comment on the latest allegation as the Sunday Observer prepared for a press deadline.

The Sunday Observer source went even further and named a well-known gang based in several Spanish Town communities, as the gang that the commissioner was referring to.

“He was very influential in the Klansman gang. That gang used to carry out his killings for him until his Gaza Empire started doing the murders themselves. We have footage of him and a leading Klansman member bragging about the best places to kill people, whether in the church or other places. That Klansman was heard bragging that he shot eight people in a church already,” the source said.

The Sunday Observer has also been informed that the police have in their possession additional footage of the video that was shown in court where men were overheard planning murder.

The footage, the source said, showed a headless body, believed to be that of Williams, lying on the floor.

It was not clear why that was not entered into evidence during the recently concluded trial.

Shawn Campbell, another police source said, may have been a victim of loyalty to the ‘Worl’ Boss’ as he now faces the possibility of serving a 25-year sentence after refusing a deal to plead guilty to accessory before or after the fact and serve a three-year sentence.

The police said that Campbell may not have known that Williams and the prosecution star witness Lamar Chow were earmarked for death when he accompanied them in a taxi driven by a man known only as ‘Need For Speed’, to the ill-fated house.

“We have information that he was under the impression that the men would be beaten for their carelessness in the disappearance of the two guns. When he arrived, we heard he was surprised to see so many strange men, who we believe to be members of the Klansman gang, and that is why him tek weh himself.

“We know that it is only after the voice notes were revealed that he became aware that he, too, could have been harmed over the guns. Maybe he would have acted differently if he had heard some of the things that came out in court,” the source said.

All four convicts are now being housed in a maximum security section of the New Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road in Kingston where high-risk inmates are kept at the State’s pleasure.
