LOVE SONGS ARE RAP AGAIN | DJ RON NELSON 5-Song EP
LOVE SONGS ARE RAP AGAIN | DJ RON NELSON
LOVE SONGS ARE RAP AGAIN is the new 5-song EP by DJ Ron Nelson. The new release date is June 24, following its original release on April 26, when it was mistakenly categorized as a 3-song single instead of a 3-song EP.
All five songs on LOVE SONGS ARE RAP AGAIN explore different angles of love—and there are many.
Toronto female sensation Xentury also makes an appearance on the EP, marking the second collaboration between DJ Ron Nelson and Xentury.

- I WISH IT WOULD RAIN
This song was inspired by the original Temptations classic of the same title, but it’s a completely original rap song with a little singing mixed in. The track is very confessional. Men don’t often admit they cry, but losing a true love can bring us close to tears. Rain becomes a natural gift—something we can use to hide those tears when we have to face the world outside.
- I CAN’T FIND HER
Another story told from an adult rap perspective. Losing someone can make you obsessed with trying to find them, hence the case in I CAN’T FIND HER.
“She thinks I won’t find her, I say never say never,
I’m good but she’s better, I’ll search any weather.
Now life ain’t the same, it’s like a nightmare,
I scream out her name, I don’t care if neighbours hear”
- CHEATING (Ft. Xentury)
CHEATING features female rap-singing sensation Xentury. This is one of my favourites. It’s almost like Xentury and I are engaged in a love battle. Ultimately, we get to hear Xentury go off after having to put up with DJ Ron Nelson’s accusations of cheating.
“I’m not perfect, she ain’t perfect neither,
Cause she keeps cheating, why I became a cheater.”
- THE CONTROLLER (IT’S NOT OVER)
THE CONTROLLER examines a relationship dynamic between a man and a woman where the man appears dangerously egotistical and obsessed with his partner. Some may see this as the kind of strength they want in a man, while others will view the character as psychotic. When you listen to THE CONTROLLER, you’ll hear and feel all the reasons why.
“I’m aggressive at times,
Yeah, kick doors, punch walls,
But I’d never kick you down the stairs,
Or chase you down the hall.
I wouldn’t do that at all,
You’re a woman, not a ball.”
- ME AND MY STRIPPER
ME AND MY STRIPPER tells the story of a sexually confident man in his 60s who chooses to date a woman 30 years younger. She is not only a stripper but has also made it obvious that she sees him more as a sugar daddy than as her true love. The hook tells the story perfectly:
“Me and my stripper,
Feel young when I’m with her,
Perfect figure,
She works, I forgive her.
People telling me
She’s got another n****r,
But I’m 21 years old
When I’m with her.”
I hope you enjoy LOVE SONGS ARE RAP AGAIN. I’m excited that it’s finally out, and I’ll now be focusing on perfecting my next album, scheduled for release this fall.
